Socialising on the Internet

There are different types of communication that we use to keep in touch with people.
We have looked at Instant messaging (IM) and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), see pages 19 and 20.

Social Networking has grown massively in a very short space of time, read page 21.
This area has grow with the development of Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, MySpace, Google Plus+ etc,.

Facebook has grown massively: since it launch in 2004.

Facebook has also been critised for a number of things from lack of control over users to false accounts.

One major issue that has grown along side the growth of social network sites is the issue of false users.  Internet users who pretend to be someone or something they are not.
Twitter: has also grown beyond all figures.

Designing Mobile Phones

There are lots of issues that influence the design of mobile phones: from the needs to the user;
  • Personal (fashion) Phones
  • Business Phone
We have seen that phones have many features and some of these are best suited to personal use others are more useful for business users.

We now need to consider different users and their specific needs:
{Read Pages 11-14 in the Edexcel GCSE ICT student book}

In your own words consider the issues and questions that are being raised, write a short paragraph on these issues and explain any solutions that are offered or that you could think of.  You may decide to answer tasks 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 and 1.9 as part of the writing you do.  Remember to Blog your results.

It is also important to look at the different age profiles of customers today.  How can mobile phones cater for the specific needs of the oldest and younger customers.
